In Breaking Dawn, Jack's Mannequin, band, icons, life on August 10, 2008 by Michelle

My blog is finally calming down; thank you! I’m happy that I’m no longer getting 100+ hits a day. Now I feel better blogging. Okay, so I don’t know where to start.

I finished reading Breaking Dawn. Not my favorite, at all. There’s so many things that I kept picking on that really bothered me, especially the biology stuff. Ugh, I hate these “miracles” that keep happening in the books, they’re so annoying. It’s not a good plot if you keep having exceptions to everything just to get what you want! The first seven chapters was honestly just horrid to read. I enjoyed reading Jacob’s part more than anything in that book and I wasn’t a big fan of Jacob. Seriously, a baby? No. Edward calling Jacob his son? NO! That just ruined Edward Cullen for me, it did. No epic battle? Fail. Love shield? Lily Potter did it better. Calling all this negativity the “Rob effect”? FAILFAILFAIL. I’m not going to love this book like how I love Rob. Just saying.

Band practices started! So far, I’m liking it more than any other year. The weather isn’t that extreme yet either, so it’s pretty bearable even though I still do sweat so much. I’m liking this whole thing about getting the band more involved by playing all these section vs section games for points. It’s really bringing out the best in everybody and if you disagree, then I don’t care. We’re doing drill downs every too, which I love doing so much. But I’m slightly bummed that I haven’t actually been winning even though I make it to be one of the last ones standing almost every time. But I do have some complaints. Mostly about people and how my legs are so sore!

As for everything else in my life, there’s no such thing. I haven’t started my summer assignments nor have I been doing any other things whatsoever. I’m still pretty into using LJ at the moment, but not for blogging. Just to keep track of resources (mostly textures, I seem to love those) and to post my icons. The other day I posted 132 icons. :/ I’ve been working on my cropping in Photoshop! I’m actually pleased with some of the results I’ve been getting, though sometimes I would look back at it and think that I should have done it another way. Maybe that’s why I tend to make about 3 variations of an icon because I can’t decide which cropping is better. I did 6 for a Rachelle Lefevre one. Look:

graphics community: emptyserenade

That just made me realize how much I prefer having the picture sided on the right, hah! And I haven’t been doing anything too fancy with icons either. I just do very simple colorings and then I use a black & white ‘grungy/cloudy’ texture and then set it on screen. Seriously, I’m going through this “i love b&w texture” phase.

Jack’s Mannequin came out with an EP! I’m liking the new stuff so far. It’s different, but lovely. The sound is really attractive. I’m honestly very excited for the Glass Passenger to come out September 30th. :)

MORE BD!

In Breaking Dawn, books on August 3, 2008 by Michelle

I got my book today! I started to read the second I got home and now I’m on page 629. I really should be spending all this time doing summer assignments. But I should have no problem reading The Great Gatsby because I found an online e-book for me to read, even though I have the book. I realized that I read better when it’s on the computer screen, it keeps me focused.

SPOILERS RE: BREAKING DAWN! :)

Okay, so I won’t call E/B’s kid a mutant anymore because Renesmee is growing on me just as Jacob is growing on me too. But I still say that her name is hella weird; probably should have gone with ‘Carlie’ as her first name. Whatever. I still love Jacob for nicknaming her after the Loch Ness Monster, Nessie. Anyway, Bella’s ~love shield~ has been revealed! I felt so bad for Edward while she was practicing spreading her shield to protect other people because Katy, this other vampire would shock Edward to see if Bella could protect him from Katy’s shocks. For some reason, Jacob makes me laugh a ridiculous amount. I’m kind of chagrined that Alice ran away with Jasper in this epic time. :/ I’m not sure what to think of it, I was just kind of sad that Alice and Jasper aren’t in the story right now. Oh I loved how Bella arm wrestled Emmett and won and how the family was making bets on if Bella would go after Jacob’s throat once she realized that he had imprinted on her Renesmee. She did, but Seth got in between them. POOR SETH. I LIKE SETH. He’s my second favorite werewolf at the moment. :) Okay, I plan on finishing the book tomorrow for sure. A little less than 130 pages to go!

Btw, my LJ friend page has been so dead because most of the Twilight communities are closed this weekend to give people time to read Breaking Dawn. Ugh, but whatever, I had my face buried in the book the whole day to even care.

MY VIRTUE!

In Breaking Dawn, books on August 1, 2008 by Michelle

SPOILER WARNING FOR BREAKING DAWN! Protect your virtue and turn away if you don’t want to be spoiled of the first 14 chapters.

Obviously, I’ve given up on keeping up with those quotes and writing my thoughts on them, even though the thoughts weren’t too elaborated. But I was disappointed to find out that most of the quotes were from the first 100 something pages of the book. You should know that the first 14 chapters leaked if you weren’t hiding under a rock this past week. I shamefully admit that I downloaded those leaks and read them. Oh no, my virtue!~ So my thoughts on that: first 7 chapter is epic failure. I loved the second part in Jacob’s POV, it made me love Jacob so freaken much.<3 The werewolf needs some loving too, okay? OK! But yeah, the first few pages of Jacob’s book made me laugh so much in a good way. Not the kind of laugh that I got when I read that Bella cried in the middle of the night because in her dream she and Edward was making sweetsweet love, but in reality Edward didn’t want to do it again because he had hurt Bella the first time. But it was stupid, he gave in anyway and instead of biting pillows, he broke headboards this time. Hah. I loved the foreshadowing of Bella’s pregnancy with her constant craving for eggs. Am I the only one that finds that amusing? Eggs.. pregnant Bella with a mutant baby that’s going to be named Reneesme or something like that. Like wtf, the name of Edward and Bella’s mom slapped together does not sound appealing. The name of their dads slapped together is 10x better, Carlie. Yes, that sounds more normal and at least the nickname wouldn’t have to be Nessie after the Loch Ness monster. Oh hi, and Jacob imprinting on her/him [I'm still confused about the mutant's gender, I'll find out tomorrow or something when I get the book] is totally the sickest thing ever, but I thank him 5 billion times for giving the nickname “Nessie”. Imagine what Jacob would one day tell Nessie: “So before you came along, I was in love with your mom, but she obviously picked your blood-sucker dad and then you came along and I imprinted on you. The end.” Hah. But no, I love Jacob at this time, way better than having emo-Edward for like these first 200 or so pages. Hearing that Bella gets pregnant made me so mad because I felt bad that Rosalie couldn’t have her own child while Bella’s eggs gets fertilized where Rosalie would NEVER get that chance. I was so angry. Because of the pregnancy, it all brought out the worse side of Rosalie even more because she would be willing to have Bella die just for the mutant baby growing inside her. It sickens me. Trying to imagine Bella dying while the baby is feeding off of Bella was just repulsive. Oh hey, not to mention the fact that Bella ends up drinking human blood to feed the mutant baby strongly repulsed me as well. At least she got better since the baby wasn’t thirsty anymore.

Okay, enough rambling. I’ll save it for when I finish the whole book. Then I’ll rant about the failboat as some refer to it as.

Not coming back until I finish reading it.

Oh yeah, and band officially starts on Monday! 8am-5pm. It’ll be interesting.

And I leave you with this:

Oh no~ Edward’s virtue! :O It cracks me up like no other. So funny. Rainbow sweater in The Bad Mother’s Handbook:

:) Nerdy Rob is funny good.

Breaking Dawn: Quote 15

Quote 15: (July 26)

Sam: “This is not something our treaty anticipated. This is a danger to every human in the area.”

Danger? *GASP* Some serious business going on here! More werewolf + vampire negotiations with the treaty, must be serious. Vulturi coming to town perhaps?

Edward: “You look so guilty—like you’ve committed a crime.”

Oh really?

Winner

In Twilight, kstew, rpattz on July 24, 2008 by Michelle

Hi Robert, you’re a total winner today at Comic Con. Thanks for being more clean-shave. :) Nice hair? Not really, but the picture makes me hyperventilate just a bit.

Kristen Stewart looked absolutely gorgeous too.

I wish I was able to be at Comic Con. But nope.

Breaking Dawn: Quote 13

Quote 13: (July 24)

Rosalie: “Over my pile of ashes.”

FINALLY A ROSALIE QUOTE. I’ve been waiting for one. This made me chuckle. I’m not even kidding you. I actually found it cute because it’s like “over my dead body”, but vampire style since like you can’t be sure that vampires are dead until they’re torn up into pieces and then burned to ashes. Yeah, okay I amuse myself way too easily.

Btw, the script for the movie leaked. But wtf, where’s Breaking Dawn?

Breaking Dawn: Quotes 10, 11, 12

Wow, I’m so lazy to even keep up with these quotes. But goodness, 9 more days! SO EXCITED LIKE YOU HAVE NO IDEA.

Quote 10: (July 21)

Edward: “Oops.”

Really, what was I supposed to think about that? Sarcasm much? I think so.

Quote 11: (July 22)

Renee: “Alice wouldn’t let us do anything else. Every time we tried, she all but ripped our throats out.”

Okay, I totally think this is over the wedding. They probably don’t like something that Alice is doing to it and they try to talk Alice out of it, but she’s not giving in. Yeah, that sounds good enough for me. I’m not in the greatest mood for theories.

Quote 12: (July 23)

Edward: “Do you want me to sing to you? I’ll sing all night if it will keep the bad dreams away.”

BY FAR MY FAVORITE QUOTE. Oh Edward. ;) So adorable, y/y? So I really do want him to sing all night because I kind of want to see Robert singing in the BD movie, if it ever comes out. Hah. This quote makes me all happy on the inside.

Breaking Dawn: Quotes 6, 7, 8, 9

Yay, my catch-up post! :) I really don’t have much comments about these, they weren’t as fascinating as I had hoped for it to be.

Quote 6: (July 17)

Charlie: “Bells, we’re up to bat.”

Quote 7: (July 18)

Edward: “You’re awfully small to be so hugely irritating.”

Okay, a quote like that has been said in a previous book already. So it’s not that big of a surprise or “new quote”. I find it pretty typical of Edward to be saying that as well. Bella seems to be the one that irritates, too.

Quote 8: (July 19)

Bella: “Why am I covered in feathers?”

WTF?! I thought this was pretty funny when I read it. I don’t think she literally means feather, more like Alice had too much fun dressing Bella or something along those lines. Well, this is something that I want to read into. Haha, feathers.

Quote 9: (July 20)

Alice: “No one will dare to call you plain when I’m through with you.”
Bella: “Only because they’re afraid you’ll suck their blood.”

Typical.

Breaking Dawn: Quote 4

Cool, so I’m a day early on my quotes, whatever. I’m just a day ahead and when it’s August 1st, I’ll hardly be able to contain my excitement that the next day I’ll be getting my hands on the book. Unless it leaks before that of course, which I hope because I wouldn’t mind getting spoiled like that. Onward with the quote!

Emmett: “Oooo, scary.”

I just thought it was epic failure on S. Meyer’s part. No other comment really. I can hardly deal with the random sarcasm in the quotes right now. Epic, epic failure I tell you. Whatever, I kind of like Emmett and didn’t think I saw enough of him in the other books, hopefully this means more of him. Yeah. And you know, some sort of descriptive sentence is considered a quote too, it doesn’t necessarily have to be dialog.

And could you believe that some fan sites are actually closing down because Meyer asked them to? That makes me slightly depressed, less snooping now. Oh well. I need a break to do something else. Btw, TMZ in the morning really wakes me up.
